Audi active lane assist, a further system of the Tour assistance package, can help the driver to stay in lane at speeds of 65 km / h and above. It observes the lines on the road using a video camera and also uses additional data. When the new Audi Q7 approcahes a road marking without indicating, the system helps the driver to stay on track using a gentle intervention in the electromechanical power steering.
The driver can choose whether he wants to be supported continuously or just for a short period before crossing the lane marking. If he opts for the early intervention, the system will lead him into the centre of the lane. In addition, there is an adjustable steering wheel vibration. The Audi active lane assist is also available separately.
The swerve assistant and the turning assistant complement the Tour assistance package. The swerve assistant supports the driver when the new Q7 has to drive around an obstacle in order to avoid an accident. Using data from video camera and radar sensors, it calculates a suitable path immediately, taking into account the spacing, width and offset of the vehicle in front. The first action is a warning jolt, which alerts the driver to the danger. If the driver then turns, the system helps him to control the drive around the obstacle using a torque intervention in the power steering.
The turning assistant monitors oncoming traffic when turning left at a low speed. In a dangerous situation, it will slow the Q7 to a standstill. This intervention causes the Audi Q7 to remain in the same lane. The system is active at speeds of between two and ten km / h when the driver activates the turn signal to turn left.
